Arguably the most famous exhibit will be the solid gold funerary mask of King Tutankhamun. Made of solid gold and weighing 11kg, the mask was found covering the head of mummy, where it lay inside a series of 3 sarcophagi.

The afternoon offers free time before we board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan this evening. Note: The Grand Egyptian Museum is set to open in 2020. An official date has yet to be released.
